Camellia Boudoir Photo Shoot Idea

She blooms in winter, so of course I fell in love with the Camellia flower and knew she had to play with me for boudoir photo shoot ideas. Not only that, but she is also one of the featured archetypes for my women’s retreat experiences.

Hi babe, I’m Lumalia, a boudoir photographer and women’s retreat wellness curator at Celebrate Again. I’m also a beauty hunter poet hungry to create a magical life. I’ve learned a rather interesting way to do this, which begins when we learn how to make that for ourselves deeply. (More on my story in my book Blooming Upside Down).

Why the Camellia for A Boudoir Photo Shoot Idea?

Flowers have raced to me over the past decade of my life.

From the peony that grew through the rocks on the side of my first home in Denver, Colorado, to the flower that anchored me when I was in my darkest season of life, facing disabilities and an unknown prognosis, the peony is now the cover of my book.

To be powerful allies when I didn’t want to live on over-the-counter medication or have to get started on higher doses of painkillers when I was in debilitating pain.

Flowers have been a sanctuary and a sense of hope for me.

Now that I live in the City of Roses (Portland, Oregon), I have found a new rose grown here. (see how I play with the rose with this poem and photos for healing my inner critic)

The Camellia has some wild magic. Do you want to see why I’m choosing to work with her in my women’s retreats?

Boudoir Photo Shoot Idea | Camellias are resilient.

They have a built-in antifreeze that allows them to go through a winter storm mid-bloom and bloom again the next day like nothing happened. (LIKE, WTF?! What flower, let alone plant, does that??) She has some wild medicine for us to know.

Camellia trees get stronger with time.

Like us beautiful humans, there is this myth that when women reach 35 it’s all downhill, or even menopausal, but the truth is we get better with time, like the Camellia.

Camellia is for your health

Her leaves and buds make for excellent tea and skin care. So you know she’s more than just for looks. She contains some powerful antioxidants that fight against disease, essential fatty acids, and cancer-fighting properties. Yep, the Camellia is super rad. So yes, I draped her all over my body and will be infusing her with some oil for good skin care and finding a plant for my own garden.

Hey, I’m Lumalia, the main voice behind Celebrate Again. I call myself a connection architect because I have a deep passion for guiding us all to fall back in love with life through states of beauty, but many of us are far from feeling at home in our own bodies, so we seek to find safety in others.

Yikes, that’s scary, I know; I did that for three decades, too, until I returned home to myself.

I’m so excited to share with you all I’ve learned and this beautiful journey back home to what makes you absolutely stunning just because you are alive today.
