Honestly, sometimes my job is still work. Even though it can seem pretty glamorous, as if I have the best job in the world; there are still days where I really don’t want to go to work like everyone else.
Unfortunately, this wedding was one of those days. Not because Victoria and Gabe aren’t awesome people by any means (because they are SUPER sweet people) but because of the venue was super challenging. Any place with Spanish style architecture, like the UNM Alumni Chapel, has a lot of character and can be very romantic but is sometimes time poorly lite and can be a big obstacle for a photographer to overcome.
Thankfully, with the right tools and knowing how to finagle the existing lighting mixed with flash I was able to work in this venue that may have otherwise been a nightmare to a newbie photographer. But, I do have to say that I feel like God always guides me to think creatively to over come challenges whether it is the venue or actual weather; I am always able to focus on capturing the bride and groom’s love story.
The room where Victoria got dressed was really warm. I cannot even image how warm it was with her big ball dress on! So, there was this fan and the girls were holding her dress up to air her out. haha so silly!
Such a sweet photo of Gabe and their little boy!
When I got there early to scope out places for photos I was so excited when I found this tree because it would make for beautiful framing photos. I seem to have a thing for that lately.
As the storm was blowing in it caused a good gust of wind. Instead of calling it a day with portraits of Victoria and Gabe I just turned them to the side letting the wind do its work to lift Victoria’s veil.
Such a lovely couple! Congrats Victoria and Gabe!
More coming tomorrow!!
