Lumalia’s debut Memoir, Blooming Upside Down, is out now!

A Wedding Planning To-Do List that isn’t Overwhelming {Colorado Wedding Planning | Mountain Wedding Photographer}

I am so excited to share this guest post from Adrienne with The Gardner Effect Wedding and Event Planning. I am so excited to share this simple easy to follow wedding planning to do list with you all!

As a past bride myself I saw these to-do lists from popular wedding blogs and magazines and they were page and pages long. I instantly went into panic-freak out mode. So, I asked Adrienne to give a more conscience list that isn’t SO overwhelming. I hope this helps you think through your Colorado wedding planning and when what needs to be done.

“As wedding planners I would say our #1 question from brides has to do with timing. When should I have my vendors all hired? When should I send out my invites?  What should I be working on right now?!?!

1 year – 6 months before Your Wedding Day

  • Hire and book ALL Vendors by 6 months before – Venue, Caterer, Entertainment, Florist/Décor, Rentals, Officiant, Coordinator, Photographer, Videographer, Hair and Make up Pros, Transportation, Room Blocks for Guests. If you wait too long all of the top notch vendors will already be booked.

  • Purchase Dress- then schedule fittings accordingly

  • Create and Maintain a wedding website – This will save you so much time! Your guests can easily find your wedding info and your registry. This will minimize the amount of questions they will have to bother you with.

  • Get that guest list ready!

6 Month Mark

  • Send out your Save the Dates – if your guests are traveling…the more time they have to prepare the better! Make sure to include your wedding website.

  • Now is the time to do those DIY Projects- favors; centerpieces etc. Getting these tasks done early will save you a TON of stress later.

  • Figure out Bridesmaid and Groomsmen attire (including accessories) – let them know where to get it and how much it will cost them.

3 Months

  • Formal Invites go out. Etiquette states 8 weeks…but we always suggest 12. Make sure to include proper meal selection choices.

  • Maintain a spreadsheet of RSVPs as they come in.

1 Month (time to finalize the details)

  • Have your final walk through- if you do not have a Day of Coordinator – create your wedding timeline.

  • Finalize your guest count and seating – Call those Non RSVPS if you have to!

  • Make it a goal to have ALL DIY projects done 2 weeks before the big day

  • Make sure all vendors have been paid and have all information they need (your Day of Coordinator will handle this if you have hired one)”
