Four fifteen in the morning, is the time we met at the T-Rex parking lot. Yep, we headed up to the Colorado Rocky Mountains to capture the beautiful Colorado sunrise to celebrate Sammi & JT’s 5 year wedding anniversary. It was a beautiful adventure for sure!

You see out here in the high altitudes of 8,000-10,000 feet in the summer time thunderstorms arrive in the late afternoon so sunsets are a rare occurrence in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We knew we wanted to capture the beautiful light the Rocky Mountains hold so we decided to shoot for a sunrise adventurous anniversary session. And man, was it SO worth it, especially since it hailed that afternoon and evening! Phew, so glad we missed that!

Around 515am we arrive at our beautiful Colorado mountain location just before the first light started to shine above the peaks snow capped and ready to sing their glorious mornings songs. Sammi & JT switched into their shoes and we trekked out to our adventurous anniversary photography location.

We hiked around a bit waiting for some more light to move in as we were in a bit of a valley, and then the light snuck in over the peaks creating the most gorgeous light I’ve ever experienced in my life as an anniversary photographer. I couldn’t believe it. It was absolutely gorgeous, to say I fell in love with sunrise sessions that day would be an understatement.

Sammi & JT exchanged their vows again after 5 years of marriage as the sun moved over the peaks illuminating their love and affection as we traipsed across the beautiful trails in these gorgeous Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

Then, the sun pulled out from behind the last peak illuminating the full valley we were in and magical things happened in that moment. The light was so dynamic there and made this anniversary photographer’s heart sing new tunes.

It was such an honor to be there to help Sammi & JT celebrate their adventures anniversary. Thank you guys for letting me capture your love last year and this year. It is always such a great joy of mine to capture everyone’s unique love stories.
