In a big city like Denver figuring out what are the best Denver wedding venues and where to get married in Denver can be a bit of a challenge. I know I’ve heard a lot of people say in planning a wedding they are busy every Saturday looking at venues, interviewing vendors and well their lives are consumed with wedding planning. So, in my goal to help couples plan their wedding by posting ideas and vendor interviews, I’ve decided to include a couple of posts about the best Denver wedding venues and where to get marred in the Denver area. Today, I want to share my personal favorite wedding venues that I’ve already photographed. Some of these actually aren’t in Denver proper but I think should make this wedding venue list. In choosing which venues to share I honestly picked the places that photograph VERY well and are fitting for you my (current or future) client, who loves everything vintage, romantic and creative.
Ok, so first on my wedding venue review list is the Wash Park Boat House. I photographed a wedding here back in October, which you can see here.
This is my first choice because it is from that era I am totally in love with, the 1920’s. The architecture of the building is super great and it has the outdoor wedding feel while stilling having an area with a cover, just in case it rains…like it did at the October wedding.
The Wash Park Boat House is a great Denver wedding venue because it is stylish, vintage and has opportunity to become fitting for you. I love the lake that it backs up to, which if you get married in the summer I’m so going to suggest we jump on one of those pedal boats and photograph you in the lake! Ek! Scary, but would be SUPER cute!!! (Don’t worry we’d do these very last…just in case. ;)…)
Another great thing is it is surrounded by a park, so there are great places for some nature-feeling photos. 🙂
My next favorite Denver wedding venue is not actually in Denver, but in Longmont. This is truly a wedding venue for those of you who want a barn wedding. D Barn is an old red barn that has been renovated to be a wedding venue. This barn wedding venue is perfect if you need a place to have a full indoor wedding. The denver wedding I photographed here was in May and the weather was pretty fickle so it was perfect to have this space to be able to take photos outside but have some decent shelter. To see this colorado barn wedding I photographed you can go here.
The reason I’d suggest D Barn venue as a where to get married in the Denver area or as a best denver wedding venue is because it is first a red barn! There is another barn in the Denver area but that wedding venue has a lot of rules and stipulations, and the owner of D Barn is super chill. While I don’t think he is chill enough to let you have flamethrowers I do think you can have more freedom here. haha.
Chief Hosa Lodge is also on my list of best denver wedding venues and where to get married in Denver because it is in the moutains with AMAZING views, but isn’t so far in all your guests will need to drive far or get hotels in the mountains. The Chief Hosa Lodge is technically in Golden, but is a hop and skip on I-70 from Denver. 😉 (haha that is terrible grammer but I’m gonna keep it!)
If you choose this venue, I HIGHLY suggest we go take pictures at sunset, or to have your ceremony at sunset…because of this….
The Chief Hosa Lodge is a great wedding venue because it also has an area that is covered. As many of you know Denver weather is a bit unpredictable and having an option to go insides is a must especially if you are having a March-May wedding or Oct-November wedding. The acutal lodge is an old stone house that is a bit like a castle wedding venue but has that old time feel too. The actual venue is a bit of a challenge photographically, but it is beautiful and a very unique wedding venue. Not to mention it isn’t ridiculously expensive either because it is Denver property and not privately owned. So, that’s a bonus!

These next few best Denver wedding venues aren’t actually in Denver, but they aren’t too terribly far away from Denver.
My favorite of the two is the Eagle Pavilion. It is in Eagle, CO… a bit far away but the little valley this wedding venue is tucked in is stunning. There are also great barns and old buildings surrounding the area so it makes for some very cute vintage style wedding photographs. The actual wedding venue has a nice litte patio for cocktail hours and has a covered inside area to shelter you from weather. But the main reason why this is on my list is because it is affordable and the area around is absolutely stunning.
And finally the Silverthorne Pavilion. I’ve only photographed the Silverthorne Pavilion wedding venue in the winter, so I couldn’t tell you what it is like during the summer, but I am pretty sure it is just as gorgeous. The reason I wanted to include this denver wedding venue on this wedding venue list is because it has a beautiful reception hall and is surrounded by beautiful views and bridges. This venue is perfect for a winter wedding because it has an area for a small ceremony and reception area in the same building, but also has lovely views in the snow. 🙂
