Lumalia’s debut Memoir, Blooming Upside Down, is out now!

Cutting your Wedding Cake

I have to be completely honest, I think this is one of the silliest traditions at a reception. (Maybe there is an awesome history about cutting the cake that someone should share with me. haha)  But you should talk about cutting your cake ahead of time, especially if you do not want cake smashed in your face or are worried about your dress getting dirty.

Ideally you want the cake to be in front of you while you cut, so almost like a reception set up is great otherwise you’ll get strange side angles because you photographer cannot get behind the cake. Round tables are the best for this otherwise you end up squished behind a wall.

My favorite set up was at this wedding below so you can see all the guests behind you. 🙂Cutting your Wedding Cake, denver wedding photographer
