Snowshoeing Elopement: Fish Creek Falls Elopement
Ok, I’m not gonna lie when Lumalia (Emmy) asked me if I was available the week before Christmas to go to Steamboat to photograph a Fish Creek Falls elopement my first response was who elopes the week before Christmas?!
I am so glad I didn’t let my initial hesitation on time make my decision about my availability. Technically I wasn’t available, there were plenty of things that I needed to be spending my time on. But this was in fact a photographer’s dream to go on such an adventure with a beautiful couple. Becca, the bride and I definitely declared friendship by the end of our short time together. She told me she’s convinced I’m actually from the south not the Midwest. It was such a pleasure to meet and be a part of Becca and Nick’s day.
We started out with an engagement shoot up on a mountain pass near Steamboat. We went snowshoeing and I got to capture them in the indescribable scenery cuddling and having a snowball fight. They were so sweet and inviting us to grab some appetizers and we had the pleasure of meeting a few people in their family. Every single person we encountered which was not many, was just as delightful as Becca and Nick.
The logistics were a bit tricky but with Lumalia (Emmy)’s amazing help the day went so beautifully. We went to Fish Creek Falls to photograph their first look and stood in awe at the beauty and majesty of God’s creation.

Then we had the opportunity to head up the gondola with a few of their most intimate family members and stood looking out over the valley of Steamboat. It was breathtaking. I just cannot believe that my job is to make friends with amazing people create art and connection while doing some pretty fun things! These past few days were more than a dream!
